Ad Orientem is committed to operating transparently as the platform grows.
Where things stand today
We have not yet launched the charitable giving program described in From the Altar to the Poor. No money has been distributed, and there are no recipients to report. When that program begins, actual distributions will be published publicly, here.
What will count as an operating cost
- Hosting, storage, search, and content delivery.
- Transactional and newsletter email.
- Security, backups, and disaster recovery.
- Payments to verified contributors and regional editors.
- Legal and accounting.
- Development of the platform itself.
The precise claim, once giving begins
After the cost of operating, maintaining, securing, and improving Ad Orientem, our intention is that the proceeds would support trusted organizations serving the poor. We will not claim that every dollar is donated, because it would not be true, and a charitable claim that is not literally true is worse than no claim at all. Additional financial reporting will be added as the platform matures.
