  1. When to arrive

    Ten minutes early is comfortable. You will find a seat, and you can watch what other people do before anything begins.

  2. What to wear

    Ordinary respectful clothes. You will see a range. Nobody is keeping score.

  3. Following along

    Take a hand missal if one is offered by the door — it prints the Latin with your own language beside it. If there is not one, you can simply watch. Stand, sit, and kneel roughly when everyone else does.

  4. If you want to speak to someone

    The priest is usually at the door afterwards. Saying “I have never been to one of these before” is a complete and sufficient opening.
